Investigator Log With Automatic Event Timestamps

The Investigator Log turns your Android phone into an organized paranormal field notebook. Instead of stopping an investigation to type a long description or trying to remember when something happened, investigators can mark common events with a single tap. Paranormal Field Kit records the event with the exact session time and adds it to a chronological timeline.

Use the log to document voices, shadows, equipment activations, cold spots, footsteps, visual anomalies, unexplained sounds, personal experiences, and custom observations. Every entry remains connected to the session in which it occurred.

What the Investigator Log Does

The Investigator Log creates a timestamped record of an investigation as it unfolds. Quick-event buttons cover the observations teams document most often, while the custom note option handles anything that does not fit a preset category.

The result is a readable timeline that can be compared with EVP audio, SLS recordings, Static Watch clips, Spirit Messages, Estes notes, and sensor changes. It reduces the need to search through several unrelated notes after an investigation.

How to Use the Investigator Log

  1. Open Investigator Log from the main dashboard.
  2. Start a session.
  3. Add an optional case name and location if you want them included in the saved record.
  4. Keep the phone accessible to the investigator responsible for documentation.
  5. Tap the appropriate event button whenever something happens.
  6. Add a custom note when more context is needed.
  7. Continue marking events throughout the investigation.
  8. End the session and review the complete chronological timeline.

Events You Can Document

The Investigator Log is built for fast field documentation. Common uses include marking:

  • A voice or possible disembodied voice
  • Footsteps or movement sounds
  • A shadow or visual anomaly
  • Equipment activation
  • A sudden cold spot or environmental change
  • A light anomaly
  • Physical sensations or personal experiences
  • An object movement
  • A question asked during an EVP or Spirit Messages session
  • Any custom observation that needs additional detail

Because every event is timestamped automatically, the investigator can focus on what is happening instead of manually entering the time.

Why Timestamps Matter During an Investigation

Paranormal review often involves comparing several recordings and observations. A voice noted at 11:42:18 p.m. can be checked against an EVP file, SLS video, Static Watch clip, sensor event, or Spirit Messages result from the same time.

Without a reliable log, investigators may remember the general sequence but lose the timing needed to compare separate sources. The Investigator Log provides a central reference point for the entire case.

Use the Log While Other Tools Are Running

The Investigator Log is especially useful because it can remain active while you move to another compatible feature. Start the log, return to the dashboard, and open Spirit Messages, the EVP Recorder, or the Sensor Deck. The log session remains available under Live Operations.

This lets one phone support a more complete workflow. For example, an investigator can run an EVP recording, ask a question, immediately mark the question in the log, and then add another marker if a sound or equipment response occurs.

Saved Investigation Records

Completed logs are stored by investigation date in the session history. Investigators can reopen the record, review the event order, and keep it available until they choose to delete it. Day folders help group multiple sessions from the same investigation.

Individual sessions can be reviewed or downloaded, while a complete investigation-day folder can be exported as a ZIP file containing the related timelines and media.

Tips for Accurate Field Notes

  • Assign one team member to maintain the log during busy investigations.
  • Mark what happened before discussing possible explanations.
  • Use neutral descriptions such as “voice heard in hallway” instead of assuming a cause.
  • Add a custom note when direction, distance, witness, or room information matters.
  • Keep device clocks synchronized when the team uses multiple cameras or recorders.
  • Review the timeline while the investigation is still fresh and add clarifying notes when appropriate.

Create a Better Investigation Record

Replace scattered notes with a fast, timestamped paranormal investigation timeline that stays connected to your sessions and media.

Investigator Log FAQ

Does the Investigator Log work offline?

Yes. The Investigator Log works without an internet connection and is suitable for basements, rural locations, abandoned properties, and other areas with limited service.

Can I add my own observation?

Yes. Use a custom note when an event does not match one of the quick-event options or when additional context is needed.

Are log entries timestamped automatically?

Yes. Each quick event and custom observation is added to the session timeline with its timestamp.

Can I use the log while recording EVP audio?

Yes. The Investigator Log and EVP Recorder can be used as part of the same investigation workflow so you can compare marked events with the recording later.
